This is an amazing band, and these 2 records are so good as to defy description, but I will try my best. They should rank next to Fairport Convention, Pentangle, and Anne Briggs. I love northern England, and this is music about that area. The fuzz bass and droning organ and cello add a great dark edge to the music, although there is plenty of jauntiness as well. 'Join us in our Game' is a great mission statement that starts things off with a bang. 'The Dead Man' is one of my favorite songs of all time, 'The Gay Goshawk' a dark tale of fairy seduction. 'Little Woman' is my favorite song on the albums, as well as their version of the old hymn 'All the Good Times are Past and Gone'(they have added some great lyrics of there own to it). The 12-minute epic/geographic survey of Western Yorkshire is mind blowing. If you don't own this I feel sorry for you. Buy it and love it.
